The mission of the Dismas House is to reconcile former prisoners to society and society to former prisoners through the development of a supportive community characterized by: students and former prisoners living together in a family setting; the active involvement of volunteers from the broader community; a spirit of open and participative decision-making; and a sharing across the Dismas House network, with an emphasis on the common good.

Homelessness

Homelessness has many new faces. One of the fastest-growing groups among the homeless is families. In Nashville, families account for 16% of the homeless population; single women represent another 16%, single men 67%, and youth 1%. In the past 2 years, Nashville has experienced a 12 % increase in the number of people living without homes.
