Background

William Fay promised his son, Jaxson Fay, that he would do everything in his power to end Type 1 Diabetes forever. In 2015, that promise became the Keys4aCure non-profit and launched the Type 1 Diabetes movement. Our goal is to be the world's largest grassroots network of Juvenile Type 1 Diabetes youth, families and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all, and energize science to find the cures. The Board of Directors is made up of community volunteers, healthcare professionals, business leaders, and those living with Type 1 Diabetes.

Impact As a new organization, Keys4aCure is dedicated to providing funding for research grants to help find a cure for type 1 diabetes. Through the donations of unwanted and old keys we are looking to bring awareness to Type 1 Diabetes and the effects on family members and the youth it afflicts.
Needs 1. Increased funding for grants, community outreach, and education.
2. Development of education seminars and workshops, and speaker's bureau.
3. Increased number of events and event volunteers.
4. Continually looking to fill leadership positions on committees and the board of directors.

Public Health

The dramatic achievements of public health in the 20th century have improved our quality of life in a myriad of ways, including an increase in life expectancy, worldwide reduction of infant and child mortality rates, and the elimination or reduction of many communicable diseases. In Middle Tennessee, improvements in preventive medicine and advanced medical technology have resulted in increased life expectancy and improved health for many residents. However, significant health disparities exist in our region, resulting in poor health status often related to economic status, race, and/or gender.
